Mot Due Tomorrow, Am I Ok To Drive Home From Work
I found out an hour ago that my MOT ran out yesterday. It's booked in for tomorrow morning, but I need to get home from work this evening so I can take the car in for MOT in the morning.
What do I do? Will traffic cameras automatically pickup I have no MOT? Will my insurance still cover me.

I would have thought that the MOT would 'run out' at midnight on the date stated. If your MOT has not been renewed... then your insurance won't cover you. Any excuse insurance companies can get to not have to pay out on the insurance you've already paid. Probably better to leave your car, get a taxi and then just drive your car to the garage for its MOT tomorrow. Or, you could take a chance. Might be lucky! I should image you would be very unlucky to get caught. (Although, knowing my luck, I would be).
Chrissa, no offence intended, but just up the road from us is one of the automatic, remote ANPR cameras in use in the UK.
It checks every single vehicle that goes onto the M5, every single day of the week, 24 hours a day and reports that information direct to police and the dvla.
This is just one of many many similar units. Technology makes it very unwise to 'risk it' any more.
MrsMP only has to be recorded once.........and she will never even know about it until it's too late.
All details of EVERY vehicle in the UK is now known, and no tax, no insurance or no MOT can be a very expensive fine, points, and even car crushing.
DVLA and HEDDLU (police from Wales) mounted an operation near here last year. Apart from catching hundreds of drivers, they also caught wanted criminals, stolen vehicles, and even stolen plant equipment. Four car transporters took vehicles off the road, there and then, to be crushed.
Dunno about you, but I would really be stuffed without my licence.......Food for thought!! :-)
Doesn't need a police car anymore........
