I have a oil leak with loss of power on my focus TDI could it be the turbo pipe work

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Thanks chas I have been trying to find the source of the leak today and found a split in the large approx 50mm dia rubber pipe that goes from the turbo ?? down to the inter cooler,. below the normal radiator I have only at the moment been able to repair with some amalgamated ? tape and hope that will last untill I am able to strip parts down to get to it better with a eplacement. I have a workshop manual but can't seem to find info do you know what the working pressure is in the rubber pipe.Thanks for any info Tez
If its the same set up as the Mondeo then I may have had the same, the pipe on the left hand side as you look at it, connects the egr valve and down to the intercooler. The turbo on the Mondeo was RHS and to the rear having 3-4 metal/rubber pipes before it got to the intercooler.
IF its the same pipe then its fairly common, I also did a temp repair with tape, but after a while the split will propagate along its length, I did wonder if it'd 'stop drilled' it if it would have lasted longer. In the end I changed the pipe, about £80 from ford, and a fairly easy fix.
