Mini One Noise Whilst Driving

Hi I have a mini one which makes quite a bit of noise whilst driving it, I was told by the seller it was from the gearbox (whine) but it seems to make more noise if I press the accelerator down and not if Iif I just let the car coast in neutral, any ideas what it is and how to fix it? Its reasonably loud but not too loud that you hear it over the radio.

So you bought a car with potential dodgy Central locking, a faulty airbag light and a disturbing whine? Did you get any warranty?

They did, but it expired as soon as the seller legged it round the corner with the cash.

As the noise is load sensitive, it could be just a bit of transmission noise coming up through the gearstick, worn linkage perhaps? Try holding and releasing the gear *** and see if that makes any difference. Probably best to take it to a Mini dealer for their advice, then you will know if the noise is something worth worrying about.

It's either a marble in the ashtray or a mouse in the glove compartment - either way the best way to cure it is to turn the radio up full blast!

Is the noise there when you de-press the clutch pedal? if not, thrust bearing.

from all the posts on this I'd say you've bought a pup mate. He told you the whine was from the gearbox and you still bought it? is this a wind up?

Sometimes the windshield is not properly sealed to the body. Hence it produces a noise while driving. There are also have chances of leak in your air intake hose.

Because I work on cars quite a lot, I get family and friends ask me.... What do you think of ******.. I always tell them the same. Google.. know or common faults on ****** You will almost certainly find answers. I do know that the Mini does not have the best reputation on gearboxes and other things.
