Can a driver be identified from the video image or photos from specs cameras?

Good question that probably not many people know the answer to although everyone would like to.  I think that although SPECS cameras face the front of your car they are geared up for reading your number plate.  But I'll bet they take a sneaky look at the driver too.

i thought a bloke got done for sticking the v's up at a camera driving over the limit and got done for both i thing it was in the sun or something

Remember, you can always ask the Police to provide the photo evidence that they have against you, which they are obliged to provide if they intend to take proceedings against you. Then you can decide your course of action once you have seen the strength of the evidence. If you had received an NIP, you could either write to request this evidence prior to completing the NIP or complete the NIP with details of an overseas driver - see other posts on Speeding - and wait to see if they intend to proceed - at which point you can request the evidence and change your plea, if appropriate. On the NIP, you only have to provide information you believe to be correct at the time... it's not against the law to make a mistake, if you believed someone else had been driving.
