Hi, hope someone can help here. My husband has a 2005 Ford Focus Ghia hatchback and when the rear wiper is turned on it stops on its own, not always in the same place. The stalk, fuse panel and motor have all been changed and checked but it still has same problem. So, the only other thing is, apparently, the wiring. Does anyone have any idea where we might look to see where the problem may be? I know it's probably a difficult question to answer, but I know how very knowledgeable people are here on AB. The manual is not helpful at all and a mechanic's looked at it too.

Any helpers please?

Motor may not be getting a constant 12 volts. http://www.talkford.com/community/topic/198479-rear-windscreen-wiper-not-parking/

I don't know about this car in particular but others have a relay to allow current to flow letting the wiper park in the correct position.
If your car has one it may be faulty.
The good news is that they're cheap and easy to replace if that turns out to be the fault.
Fords used to have spring loaded contacts in the hatch which connected with small square plates on the landing panel, Dirt and wear could affect them.

Thanks for your reply Douglas. The relay on this car is apparently within the fuse panel, which has been checked. Back to the drawing board then. Lol.
Could be a dodgy wiper motor, check this out marje.

Another possibility, that you may have overlooked:
Is the wiper fastened onto the threaded shaft securely (if you catch my drift) ??
If it isn't, it could be slipping. The wiper motor might be working fine, but if it's slipping, the wiper blade will stop partway across the screen, whilst the motor carries on.

It's not the motor Tony and it is securely attached Gizmonster, thanks for those replies.

However, I'll show hubby your link about constant 12volts Tony and hope that does the trick.

Many thanks to you all.
Take the wiper ARM OFF, try the wiper & see where the spline rests ( The Spline is where the wiper arm sits on) Someone may have taken the wiper arm off & Repositioned on the wrong area of the spline, also check the spline for wear & the spline within the arm itself, that may be worn.

Been away so just seen your answer TWR. Thanks for that, we'll certainly look at the spline.
