focus engine speed

When i go to change gears in my focus the engine revs increase. If the car is in gear it is almost like having cruise control

Sounds like the clutch plate is sticking dear boy.

Mine used to do this - really annoying if you want to slow down a bit but not use the brakes. Dunno if it's a fault or just a 'feature' of the car.
