Yes they are quick but by god they are both as ugly as a bag of old spanners.
Anybody agree?

Personally I love the ugliness of the Evo - why should cars be smooth, sleek and frankly easy on the eye! I quite like seeing an evo in my rear view mirror -admittedly they dont hang around there for long.
As far as the other gorgeous machines that I have been mentioned - I think its horses for courses and each to their own. Whatever we have on our drives, its our choice and they are ours and we probably think they are best thing since slice bread!
yes they are ugly that is why
I would have a nissan skyline any day

Yes, but if you want something stylish which can carry four people and their luggage, these are the last cars you would go for - personally, I'd go for an Alfa 156 and the soon to be coming out 159 - both are achingly beautiful.
Yes they will break down on the way home from the dealers, but at least you'll be sitting by the side of the road in a stylish machine as opposed to whizzing by making a stupid amount of noise in something that looks like a cat choking up a hair ball.
But then speed and cornering ability in a car aren't particularly important to me - which is why I prefer motorbikes.
My bikes will leave both the Mitsubishi and Subaru at the lights standing - and in our traffic hewn roads, they will never catch up!
Also, as Clarkson said in his Sunday Times piece on the Evo, they are brilliant to drive, but whenever you park and get out, you just know people are looking at you and thinking what a prat.
But, Ding-dong, I want something that can go fast and carry four plus luggage, and will do so with monotonous reliability, and can go round bends without falling off the road in a scrabble of understeer, and that wont fall apart in six months or suffer continual electrical or build problems, so sadly that counts out any Alfa. Would you really rather sit beside the road in a broken down, but stylish car? I doubt it.
I ride a bike too, and sure, it will loose my Impreza for dead on the right road, in the right conditions, but in the rain? or when Im late for my flight and I have a suitcase? or Im on my way to dinner with the wife? or I am going to the garden centre? Or its been snowing or frosty?, please, your bike, (and mine) will look pretty silly then.
As for Clarkson, I think that when he gets out of any car, people look at him and think, "what a prat."
LOL @ tali22 I quite like that description! I think many evo and scubie drivers will love it too.
Like I said before, each to their own, there are those of us who want something to look pretty and there are those of us who want something that looks like nothing else on the road. I am the latter and an Evo is welcome on my drive every day of the week!
