Bought a new car last year, road tax was due 28Feb, only have reg docs, so went on line to do it and its saying my car is taxed till may? What, disc says 28/2/15, question is what do I do now? Will I be able to speak to someone at DVLA? Or should I go to Post office. Thanks for any helpful info

If the latter, the new rules say that the tax the dealer put on last March would be refunded to him automatically and he probably bought a 6-month tax for you - no tax disc would be given to him and he just didn't bother to remove the old one from the car.

As above DVLA thinks the car is taxed to end of May, sounds like the the person who actually taxed it got a refund and the dealer taxed it for 6 months in December. Fear not you are taxed, forget the disc. Wait for a DVLA reminder.

Exactly what bhg481 said. Since the 1st October you can't transfer the outstanding road fund licence to the new owner. You get an automatic refund when you sell the vehicle. The vendor must have obtained 6 months road tax for you, in your name, when he sold you the car and just left the old disc in the window. As you no longer display a tax disc you need to renew the tax when the reminder comes. In your case you'll get a reminder in may.
