Speed Awareness Course
I was caught for speeding and offered a speed awareness course instead of points on my licence. The instructor was quite specific that it was unnecessary to notify my insurance company. I'm now having second thoughts and wondering if I should tell them. I'm insured with R.I.A.S. and am a senior driver.

Before they go into the specifics you could just ask them what their policy is with regards to the speed awareness course. You could even get away with saying that you believe that your son/daughter can be a bit of a boy/girl racer and what would happen if they were to go on said course. The person you speak to isn't going to end the call thinking "oh god, we aren't going to insure them" because they just want a sale. If you do call them, make sure you dial 141 before the number just so it shows as withheld.
Xeronema - you've given me another thing to think about - however, being a suspicious old bat I wonder how I could prove that a call centre operative had assured me that going on a SAC was of no interest to them in the context of a claim. If push came to shove I think it may. Having said that, thank you for the interest.
