Check tyre pressures message on console flashes on randomly and highlights any of the tyres. What could be causing the message? Tyre pressures check OK.
More likely a faulty receiver - if a sensor was faulty/flat battery then I suspect that the display would just have the one wheel showing a problem. The sensors are almost certainly inside the tyre (as opposed to fixed to the rim somewhere), so fixing a faulty sensor, if you don't know which sensor it is, could involve removing all the tyres.
As far as I understand it, there is a battery-operated sensor inside each tyre which transmits the pressure to a receiver inside the car. If a sensor is faulty the receiver should recognise which one. If random tyres are being highlighted then either all the sensors are at fault or the receiver has a problem.
If you know about the Jag situation specifically I am happy to be corrected.
After-market fitments like my Tyrepal have the sensors screwed to the valve stem. Tyre-pressure sensors are to become standard fitting from next year, I understand, and the car manufacturers are fitting the sensors inside the tyre. More secure from a theft point of view but a problem if the battery goes. I expected a car such as a Jag XF to have the internal type.
they are fitted inside each rim with the tyre valve and transmit to a receiver ,not sure about Jags but certain types of these sensors do have an internal battery which has a limited life span.As some of these sensors can be upwards of £60+ each thats an expensive exercise when they all fail eventually.
As regard the Jag cant help thinking the only way you will resolve this is with the right diagnsotic kit.
