Foreign no-claims bonus

I took out insurance for my car in France and they were willing to accept my proof of no-claims of 8 years, however having returned to the UK Churchill insurance won't accept my foreign no-claims or my previous British no-claims as the British one was for over two years ago!!! They now want another payment almost equal to what they have recieved. I have tried without success to get my French insurance company to send proof of no-claims in English, though I've got proof in French.  Any ideas on how to overcome this anyone; Thanks
