Handbrake MOT

Hi,

My car is going for an MOT soon and was just wondering if anyone knows how many clicks they count as passable when they are pulling up the handbrake. 

I think if its going to fail it will be on this so I am just wondering.

The hand brake is tested on how much brake friction it applies to the rear wheels, not how many clicks it takes to apply it.

Ahhh cool I had heard it was three clicks but mines like 5 so I was worried.  Ill just wait and see what happens when it goes in.

They usually put the car on a set of rollers and the tested sits in the car with his little remote control box and tests each wheel in turn by rolling the wheels to put pressure on when pulling the handbrake up.

The three clicks was used as a rough guide for setting the cable tension. Set the tension so the car would hold at the third click and role back when released. Not sure if it is still used.

Just as an update ... the handbrake passed ... but the front two tyres didnt :)
