I think it needs updating badly, there must be a way to stop the accidents, Injuries / Deaths on our roads, the first been, drivers that's passed their test should be limited to a small Speed governed car, should not be allowed to use the car with passengers till they learn some road sense & experience, this is my opinion, more than likely others will have a negative view.

I think the driving test is much harder now, TWR. Due to insurance premiums I think many younger drivers are much more careful especially as they can only afford small cars.

I do think that motorway lessons should be compulsory though.

Just curious really, but if they've passed their Test they can drive on Dual Carriageways and Motorways, so where would you set the limit?

My father never took a test and my goodness it showed!

We were at a junction and I asked him why he wasn't indicating, 'they can tell which way I'm going by how my wheels are angled' was his response.

The test is ridiculous, after passing a test at 30mph on roads known to the driver, in daylight, they are allowed on motorways at speed they're not used to. Young drivers should also be taught and tested at night and on skid pads, perhaps then the number of accidents will start to come down.

As you know Ummmm, motorway driving is a different kettle of fish than ordinary roads.

Volcan,I've always considered my self that when I learnt to drive back in '68 it was winter and I was working shifts so I took my lessons at all times of day and in all weathers so when I did pass I was pretty confident driving in most conditions.I do agree with ummmm,about some form of motorway training the amout of traffic and the speed some people travel at can be pretty unnerving at times even for an experienced driver let alone a complete newcomer to motorways
