Could you care to expand a little, TWR.

Are you referring to the fact that he was refused entry to Wimbledon's Royal Box yesterday because he did not comply with the dress code?

Yes NJ.
No
You would have thought he would have known about the requirements or been told, about them.

I'll be kind and say he was ignorant of the rules. :/

I'm not laughing, honest Guv!

Either that or he couldn't/didn't read his invitation.
Well, as far as I see it, he was invited to attend (which he said he felt honoured to have been) but misunderstood the dress code. Quite what form (whether he was told and misinerpreted it, or whether he was not told at all) this misunderstanding took is not clear. He was offered some suitable clothes by the Club but declined and went to a hospitality area within Centre Court to watch the match and left before its completion.

I don't know that this shows a certain arrogance on his part. I imagine he simply did not know the rules (as he's certainly not short of more formal clothes and wears them when required) but as far as I can see he created no fuss, certainly did not play the "do you know who I am?" card and simply retired to another area where his dress was acceptable.
He posted on Instagram "On my way to Wimbledon to watch the final! Honoured to have been invited to watch the men's finals from the Royal Box!"

He posted this alongside a photo taken by him that clearly showed the "Guide for Royal Box Guests". The photo is here:

It seems he did not read the guide, just photographed it and shared it on social media!
Having said that, when looking at some of the assorted Has-beens, Never-Has-Beens and sundry ne'erdowells that frequent that area, he didn't miss much in the way of company. :-)
Having now seen the pic he posted showing that he did receive a "Guide to Requirements," I wonder why he didn't adhere to them. Silly boy.
it was a warm day. He might well have decided that wearing borrowed clothes on a hot day was not going to be conducive to his comfort, especially if he's not a keen tennis fan. AS NJ says, he left quietly, I suspect that if the meejar hadn't picked it up, no one would have known or cared.
he's not a tennis fan, he left before the end ... why did he accept the invitation?
pass.
//he's not a tennis fan, he left before the end ... why did he accept the invitation? //

Why do many celebrities accept an invitation to a high profile sporting event , when they are not neccesarily a 'fan' of the sport .

You see many celebrities at F1 races who i bet don't actually watch the race , but are there because of the hospitality .

In Hamilton's case - i don't know if he is a fan or not ; but i should think it would have been rude to decline the invitation .

There is certainly no suggestion that he deliberately ignored the dress , because of any perceived self importance .

We should be supporting our british sporting successes , god knows we have very few of them nowadays
