I Wonder Why This Number Is Rising So...
Politics2 mins ago
I am having an intermittent problem with a 1994 1.1L Ford Fiesta (HCS CFi) that I recently bought.
Even when driving, the engine can sometimes stall. It sounds like the engine is not getting the correct air/fuel mix, as if the automatic choke isn't working properly.
I have replaced the air temperature sensor that ultimately controls the auto choke to no avail. On suggestion I have also replaced the single point fuel injection unit, but still the problem seems to exist as intermittently, the engine still sounds like it may stall. On an older car I would think the tick over rate or choke needs to be adjusted but that isn't possible on this car.
It has also been suggested that although a long shot, the fuel cap may not be allowing enough air into the fuel tank and therefore causing a build up of pressure - afffecting the flow of fuel into the engine.
If you have any experience of such a problem or any advice it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Haynes manual says.
1 Disconnect the battery
2 Wait a few minutes and reconnect
3 Start and let idle for 3 minutes
4 Increase to 1200 rpm for a further two minutes
5 Now go for an approximate 5mile run with a mix of loads and speeds.
With luck it might work for you but it didn't for me and I'm not looking and the trottle position motor, that might be gummed up.
