im not sure if it would activate on its own but nevertheless incase it has, it should be located under the bonnet on the bulkhead, this is the panel that seperates the engine bay from the 'cockpit' it is on a little bracket and will have a couple of wires going to it, and maybe a rubber cover on, remove this and look for a button that has popped out - pop it back in.
If this was the problem then it should now be cured - good luck.
Just been to check on my girlfriends fiesta, the location i describe above was wrong sorry - (must be thinking of different car).
Anyway, ive consulted the haynes manual and found it is located behind the plastic trim, on the passenger side B pillar, inside the car. The B pillar is the part where your front passenger door closes onto.
