Why do cars screech in multi-storey car parks?

Mine does it round corners... but only in multi-story car parks... why??

Due to the surface being smooth/greasy.

Presumably because the tread of the tyre, as it comes into contact with the floor of the carpark, deforms (i.e. moves) and makes the noise.  You could achieve the same effect by scuffing rubber-soled shoes on the floor.

I have noticed new re-surfacing in multi storeys make a terrible noise.  When I asked about it, I was told it was to stop speeding and joy riders screaming around them because it slows the car down and stops any sort of sliding.
