Unsure what a Tyre Inflator Kit is. Do you mean those joke things some cars have instead of a spare wheel/tyre ? If so, I'd not touch any such inferior brand car. Already peed off to find my car came with a Noddy spare, let alone the joke kit.

Personally I would not buy a car that only had tyre inflator/sealant kit.

My current car is a C3 Picasso and part of the 'deal' was that it came with a spare wheel, albeit a 'spacesaver'.

No, many punctures can't be fixed with that type of kit. If the puncture can be fixed it's only temporary and you'll almost certainly find that the tyre can't be repaired when you do get it to a garage. If you don't have the option of a spare, even if only a space-saver, walk away from the car.
Let me give you a personal example. Several years ago, in France, I had a sidewall puncture. Kits are no good for this but, fortunately, I'd specified a space-saver spare (no full-size available and won't fit in the well anyway). I had a 40-mile trip to the nearest place with a tyre dealer who could get me a tyre in two day's time; that was a trip home and back to the dealer, so 120 miles on the space-saver - not possible without it.

I have one on my Mercedes so not my idea of an inferior car. I've never used it but understand it to be a last resort in an emergency with the knowledge it's just to get me home/to a garage as it destroys the tyre beyond repair.

I did have cause to try it and it failed miserably, either way I would always try it, just to get me home.

I have no problem with space saver spare wheels, but wouldn't accept a tyre inflator kit.

My main bleat with space-savers is that the real wheel is too big to go in the well when you have a puncture. We've made a bag to put it in because, the odds are, it will be at least dirty and, probably, wet as well (water acts as a good lubricant, so things penetrate the tyre better when it's wet).

The point we're making, ivor, is that they don't guarantee to get you home, which is what a spare tyre is all about. Nobody believes they are a prmanent fix in fact, just the opposite, if you use them the only permanent fix is a new tyre.

We've got Run-Flat tyres on the Beemer and nowhere to keep a spare, the other two both came with spare wheels after a little negotiation, and an extra payment. Generally no spare wheel available = no sale in my book.

Slack, that's my thoughts, I have just bought another E46 With one of these stupid things in the boot, the boot will take the full size alloy & that's what I intend to do.

No, I would specify a spare wheel [albeit spacesaver] instead. I've have spacesaver's on each of my last three cars and the spacesaver has got me out of trouble on all of them. A puncture repair kit might get you home but it's use writes off the tyre anyway...tyre depots won't subsequently repair the tyre.

I don’t travel great distances and would be unable to change my own tyre (know how to, back and knees won’t allow) I have RAC so if the inflator kit didn’t work, they would get me to a garage or home.
