I have a W reg Renault clio with approximatly 55 thousand miles on the clock, and the cam belt has gone can it be repaired if so how much will it cost

The cam belt itself cannot be repaired, a new one is required.  If you were driving the car at the time of the cam belt's demise, a lot of other damage may have been done to the engine.  Valves bent, piston heads damaged, and such like.  You'll need to find out what the full extent of the damage is first before you even think about how much it will cost to repair.
