Audi A3 Lights

I borrowing a little Audi (1997) at the moment. The offside back light comes on as soon as you start the engine. Is this just a faulty bit of wiring or is there a switch that I can't find to turn it off?

Does the light stay on ?.

What position is the indicator stalk in when this happens, does the o/s/f sidelight come on as well?

It stays whilst I'm driving, but goes off if you put the main lights on.

The indicator stalk is in the neutral position. I've checked the parking lights but they are lower down on the back.

So if you turn the lights on the offside back light doesn't light up then, rocky.
If that is the case then it's most probably a dodgy circuit board on that light.

Is there any damp in the boot area, rocky ?.
A quick fix that might work would give the circuit board on the dodgy rear light a spray with WD40.

I don't think there's any damp but I'll have a look tomorrow. Where would we find the circuit board? We're divs when it comes to cars :)

Just a thought, rocky. That car is knocking on a bit in age now, could be that the rubber seal between the light unit and the car body has started to perish and is allowing water / damp to get in and that could have affected the circuit board.

The circuit board is usually what the bulbs are pushed into on modern cars.

I'll get himself to check to see if there's any damp around the light.

It's a grand little cars and great to drive. It must have been an absolute cracker when it was new.
