Supermarket Car Parks
do you think the supermarkets have a duty of care in the way car parking is set out? what I mean by that is space given to each car, my Nephew has an expensive car & he straddles 2 lanes, many comments are said to him regards his parking until he explains why he doe this, the commenters usually agree with him, how many dents have you had in your car due to Supermarkets car parks & how much has it cost you.

Every owner of a car park has a moral responsibility to ensure it is fit for use. Some do indeed push their luck regarding bay widths. But that's hardly the only thing supermarkets get wrong. Reserving primes spots for folk who should have left their bored kids with family, friends, fellow new parents, while they shopped, is more unreasonable.
I don't agree with my Nephew's actions, let me put that right, I also park well out of the way if possible, so lets put it in another way, you have a brand new car which you just picked up that morning, you go into your local Supermarket get your shopping come back to a large dent in your car caused by a Trolley, would that make you think about using 2 spaces/ not child's / Disabled.
I find the size of the spaces in car parks varies enormously. Some old council car parks are too tight to mention. I try to avoid those in case I dent someone! I'm less worried myself. My car is for travelling in and although I would be cross if it was damaged badly, I can't worry about it too much.
Most of the supermarkets I go to have plenty of spaces, but I witness some people who would fight each other for the spot nearest to the entrance!

I wouldn't have a problem with a car or van taking up 2 spaces if it needs them. The only duty of care I expect from the supermarkets is that they check people are displaying their Blue Badge if they are parked in a disabled space and the ones in the Mother and Child spaces actually have children with them, but I know that's never going to happen. OG, it's not always possible to leave your children with other people while you go shopping.
