Mot Advisory - Low Clutch
passed my MOT today, but with the advisory of a low clutch.
is this something that i will need to fix, or are they likely to have just put it back in place (if its that simple?)
i have no idea what it means and why it happened etc
i should have asked but i didnt think at the time
they are friends of my brothers, so possibly if it was simple 2 min fix, they may just do it.
its a tough job getting hold of my bro and getting him to do anything so i thought i'd see if there was any kind of general garage/MOT response for this problem, before i ask him to ask them.

One possible cause is simply that there's insufficient clutch fluid in the system. (Although, if that is the cause, it might then be necessary to investigate further, to find out if there's a leak in a cylinder).
Otherwise it might just involve an easy minor adjustment, as here:

Note though that the writer of that piece was originally quoted US$2000 to fit a new clutch by a mechanic who couldn't see the easy solution. (I've also paid for a new clutch, which a garage said was essential, only later to find out that the cause of my car's problem was something else completely, which could have been fixed with just 5 minutes labour and no new parts!).
So don't automatically believe anyone who tells you that the clutch needs replacing. (If it's not slipping, it almost certainly doesn't!)
