An Appeal To Cyclists.
With the onset of dark evenings I am appealing to cyclists to wear bright safety clothing and have bright rear and front lights - preferably the very good flashing/ strobe ones.
Now there are many more vehicles on the road the amount of light from headlights in busy areas seems to create pools of dark shadow where dark-clad, poorly lit cyclists can be difficult to spot. To add to the problem very few motorists keep the inside of the windscreen clean and this decreases visibilty. Think Bike.
Be safe everyone , especially at this festive time.

However I wish I could invite some of them into my cab to appreciate how hard it is to spot one in my rain soaked mirrors if they are clad in black Lycra - even if they have basic lighting.
Give me a chance to see you, please cyclists.

No No No! In many countries, a portion of the pavement (usually marked out in red) is apportioned to cyclists, but they need to cycle with courtesy for pedestrians. There are very few pedestrian/cyclist accidents compared with vehicle/cyclist ones.

You may have seen this done Hoppy, Tie a piece of rag about a foot in lenght on your mirror arm in the middle, the forward movement let's the rag swirl this in turn cleans your mirror, do not do this in Winter as the ice on the rag will crack the mirror, Yes, it does do the job, old truckers tip. lol
Khan, I not anti Cycle by any means but I think some of them should be booked for the way the conduct their steering, I have mentioned a few times of near misses, It's easy for the Bike brigade to call the motorist's & I agree in some cases, if they use the road they should abide by the rules, I was in Skipton this Weekend, the light were in my faviour, this clown came through from my right on RED, I should have reported the idiot, that's only one case.
This could prove popular, Cyclists on N/side going straight ahead take priority over traffic turning left
