// wifes corsa did this quite a few times,
i thought she had left them open by mistake as they were only half open eah time,
but it did this to me on a wet day, vauxhall told us this was a common fault, and they did an update to the sim, which to date has solved the problem,
but they did switch off the opening & closing of the windows by the remote control.//

Pulling the windows fuse out is a better option than disconnecting the battery, which will also require the radio code to be input when you re-connect it. Even removing the fuse will require a window reset (see the handbook). Maybe re-setting the windows is a trick to try first. I can't remember exactly how to do it but it's fairly simple and involves something like switching on the ignition with the switches pressed.
I've found my old Vauxhall Omega manual and I suspect the instructions will be the same as your Vetra.
With the ignition on, close all the doors.
Working on each window in turn, completely close the window by pressing and holding down the rocker switch; keep the switch down for at least 5 more seconds after the window has reached fully closed position.
Worth a try.
