Height of laziness I know but garage is at the bottom of the garden so don't want to try this tonight. Will a factory SatNav system that runs a DVD be able to show a DVD film. So anybody who says, "try it" I would like an idea tonight.

It's highly unlikely that any satnav would be designed in direct conflict with the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986:

No, it won't.
Mine does.
I have the Columbus unit in Skoda Elegance and yes it plays DVD films. I have done it.
However it will not allow it if the car is moving.
Sorry Skoda Superb Elegance, but the Columbus unit is common to many VAG models.
The no playing while moving mode can be disabled in the VAG software that dealers have but it will not and should not, of course, be done.

Thanks for all the info. I have no intention of trying to watch a video whilst driving, I was just curious as to whether it would work.
