Good morning I have a Mazda Rx8 and have a code p2259 which suggests issues with the secondary air injection.
I’m trying to understand it but could some explain the relationship between the air solenoid and air valve thank you

A solenoid refers to the electrical component (creating linear movement), normally formed by a coil such that when energised it pulls a plunger into the coil as a result of the magnetic field generated by the current flow. Normally the solenoid plunger returns to its un-energised state using springs – but sometimes the two-solenoid positions are both achieved electrically.

A valve provides a physical obstruction (within the pipe), which when acted on by the mechanical forces of the solenoid plunger, opens or closes the valve – depending on the configuration.
