I have a Ford - does it actually make any difference to the resale value a few years down the road if it has Ford garage service stamps or if it just has some reputable garage stamp

I am thinking that the older the car gets (unless its a vintage collectible!) the less it matters.

A regularly serviced second-hand car record from a reputable dealer is a plus in my book. But we're probaly not talking about more than a few pounds in resale value.
