I had new battery fitted at local garage and gave them my official radio reset code. They tried to reset with no success. Guy phoned Jaguar and they confirmed that it is right code, but guy said might have been "spiked " What can I do to rectify please

Are you sure that it's the original radio? Jaguar will have probably checked against the VIN or registration number of the car, which won't help if the radio has been replaced at some time. If you (or a garage mechanic) can remove the radio you can then get the code which goes with the radio's serial number.

Youtube also has several videos about bypassing the security code on Jaguars, so you might find something there which could help.
