What does your policy say about windscreens?

What about AutoGlass or similar companies?
It's your accident insurance company which covers the windscreen, usually only with fully-comprehensive policies. Your policy documents will give you the details of how to do it, including the excess you have to pay and which company you need to use for the repair. It does not usually affect your no-claims discount.
The usual method is just to organise the repair with the designated company and pay them the excess; they claim the rest directly from the insurance company.
Last time I needed a windscreen repair I was surprised to fine they don't have depots anymore; they come to your house. Book the visit online, pay by card at the same time and that's it.
Delay the MOT. It won't be done in time.
Use autoglass, we have always found them excellent, come out promptly, and do a good job and all the paperwork for you. (may have a bit of a wait on a bank holiday)

Don't proceed with the MoT till you've fixed the windscreen, or it will fail
Autoglass are, indeed, a good recommendation BUT make sure they're OK by your insurance company or they will reject your claim and you'll end up paying the full amount. Most insurance companied DO accept/insist on Autoglass but CHECK.
Definitely postpone the MOT until the windscreen is fixed as it will fail!
Depends on the size of the chip / crack and where it is as to whether it will pass the MOT or not.
