Think their every day cars are provided on lease arrangement..will be part of the lease I imagine ??
It doesn't really matter. If you are involved in an accident caused by someone else you sue them for damages caused by their negligence. Insurance is there to ensure that they have enough money to pay you. If the accident was the fault of Prince Phillip she will sue him and he will either pay or pass the claim onto his insurers; I think he might hav enough spare cash to pay for a replacement Kia.
It used to be the case that the super rich didn't need car insurance if they could prove they had ring fenced a minimum amount of money to meet any claims, I think it was over £1m, by making a "specified deposit" with the Accountant General of the Supreme Court, against their liability for injuries to others (including passengers) and for damage to other persons' property resulting from use of a vehicle on a public road or in other public places.

When the law changed recently and continuous insurance enforcement was put in to effect then all cars that were driven on public road needed third party insurance as minimum.

I don't know if the senior royals ring fenced money instead of buying insurance.
//Under the law, every driver - be they an heir to the throne or otherwise - has to make insurance provision for their vehicle. It is illegal to drive on public roads without it. //

Don't bet on it.
The law says he must be insured. I can't see why he wouldn't be.
It has been stated that he is insured but I can't remember where I saw it.
Because he's a salt of the earth national treasure who ploughs his own furrow, Naomi.

An entitled pain in the proverbial by any other name.
Douglas, I know he takes liberties and gets away with it, but breaking the law in this respect would be one step too far.
I'm sure the senior royals make no decisions at all about routine matters such as car insurance, they have secretaries and personal assistants to take care of that sort of thing
I agree, hc.
best answer for KIA !
some sense on Ab for a change

and you can sue the crown in the civil courts under the Crown Proceedings Axt 1947

gold star for your fridge Kia
The Crown is immune from suit and so this makes it very hard for him or her to break the law because they are part of it ....

modified by statute see above

You mean Charles I really did have a point when he said that there was no court competent to try him ? yup
She’s obviously making a lot of money from being involved in the accident.

It is a simple insurance claim.
What she actually said was ‘I don’t even know if he has insurance ‘
Don't think you can get tax on a car without insurance certificate, but it was when I last bought a tax disc.

If this is right I have read that most of the cars they have are leased out so they would be insured .
