I have just acquired a 54 plate small diesel van and received a new log book. It states that the van is registered as disabled (well not the van but you know what I mean!). I have been going round in circles trying to find out how much it will cost to tax (I know it has to be done at the post office to change the taxation class) but I have no idea how much it is going to cost me. Can anyone give me a clue?

£250 p.a. if it falls outside the Euro 4 emissions class or £140 p.a. if it's Euro 4 compliant: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/other-vehicle-tax-rates Try the calculator here: https://www.gov.uk/calculate-vehicle-tax-rates or, possibly quicker, use this service: https://www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dvla

Why can't someone just tell me - £100? £200? £500? Only need to know how much to take to the post office. I haven't got the log book with me to check.

Thanks Chris so if I get £250 that should cover it?
first go here to find the emissions:
https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/
Then look at the first table here for the CO2 emmission value:
https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/rates-for-cars-registered-on-or-after-1-march-2001
should be cheaper than that if it's a small van, what is the emisssions value?
