I still find it difficult to understand the need for food banks.
I still cannot understand why a child need to go to school on Monday, dirty unkempt, and hungry.
Well I can, ....poor parenting, but this is not accepted as a reason.
In the 1940's and 50's we didn't see food banks and even the poorest people made sure that their children went to school, clead, tidy and fed and that was before we have had nearly 60 years of the Welfare State.
Also, there was no sophisticated methods of contraception which is offered today as well as the absence of free menstrual equipment for the girls.
