Insurance For A 90 Year Old

Mum's car insurance is due and the quote has gone up by 30% from last year, so looking for any recommendations for cheapish insurance. That quote is from Saga. I'll try Age Concern, but any other ideas? Thanks

I think that people think that Saga does "special" deals for older people. Its not a charitable or special interest organisation, its a business that markets to older folk, just like any other company has its target customer base.

Have you checked the comparison sites? There will be companies who charge more for older drivers or dont even insure tem due to potential health issues, and others who reduce the premiums because they recognise the likelihood of shorter distances and day time driving. Shop around as widely as possible.

Sorry, but at 90 insurance is ALWAYS going to be a problem! Most companies will not take on NEW customers who are over 90 ! But they can't refuse to renew for an existing customer ! My Mum had to give up at 81 when the renewal quote , was more than twice what the car was worth !

Perhaps I should have said ‘cheapest’ rather than ‘cheapish’. I know it’s always going to be more expensive than, say, my insurance, but I’ll have a look round over the next few days. Sheila’s Wheels has already quoted £100 less, so that’s better than nothing!

Eddie, the value of the car is the least part of what most car insurances cover. The big bucks is to cover injuries and damage sustained by third parties which are the fault of the insured.
