Are diesel cars, apart from the price of the diesel being forced off the road.If they are is it just cars, or does it include lorries etc.

they can try and force trucks off the road but it will have an unwanted effect on everything we buy and consume. at this time there is no credible alternative to the diesel truck, because the amount of batteries required would seriously derate the truck's payload, as would using hydrogen, which requires ten times the volume of space to get the same amount of energy than from a tank of diesel fuel.

this will persist while 95% of everything in the UK continues to travel buy truck.
trucks are not the issue they've always been diesel, the proliferation of diesel cars over the last 20 years or so is what is being addressed here.
Trucks and vans have also increased due to online shopping, not just cars.
Diesel is used in trucks because Diesel engines produce much more torque (power from a given revolution of the engine) than petrol.
Major manufacturers are still manufacturing & selling diesel cars, so, no, they’re not being ‘forced’ off the road. Yet.
One of the reasons the plastic bottle won't be replaced by glass, even a bigger / heavier payload to pull.
