Am I Too Old To Get Hgv Licence
i am 52
i am driving all my life.
i want to get employment as delivery driver in future and maybe go from 7.5 tonne to a class C or D .
if i get work a driving 7.5 tonne deliveries for example then what would the point be in going on to get a class C/D if the money is not much better ?
my present job is far too physically demanding for me now.

Doesn't seem to be an upper age limit though.

You can drive up to 7.5 tonne on a C1 licence, which you might already have depending on when you passed your test...look at your licence. C is for any rigid over 7.5t, D is bus/coach category. I'm an owner/driver and to be honest, the amount you have to pay for everything now, I would seriously consider not going fo a C category at your age...sorry! I don't think the expense would justify a slightly raised income. BTW, if you drive up to 7.5t on a C1 category, you still need to get the Driver CPC and then do the 35 hours training every 5 years. Thats effectively 5 one day courses, normally about £70 a course.
