Bedford (the commercial arm of Vauxhall) sold its factory to AWD in 1987, the year after the Bedford Rascal started production as a joint venture by GM and Suzuki.

The Rascal was produced until 1993 although it was rebadged as a Vauxhall after 1990, as were the rest of the Bedford light commercial range (Astravan, Astramax, Midi van and KB pick-up).
