Help....need Tax Car But Stranded Abroad...
Just realised looking at diary my car tax is up today. In northern ireland.
Emailed dva dvlni etc...some emails bounced back but i managed get through to one dva customer services ( hopefully )
Im abroad, trying get home. Concerned clampers will seize my car...its parked outside my friends house....ive tried make SORN but ive no access to logbook and 16 digit chassis number etc.
Can car be seized clamped and taken....given cvd virus is this likely....im sure im not only one stuck abroad but you know the clamping squad and tax office its all about money.
Tried different calls to dva NI but just getting answer phone seems theyre snowed under.
I imagine pounds and clamping companies going to jump on this for a few quid , exploitation....
What options open for me ?
Cheers.

anything helpful here ?
I think it would be best if you can actually speak to someone in authority such as the pertinent police station..advise them of the situation...If they can post a police aware thing it would stop tickets/clamping ?

I would imagine the DVLA is probably snowed under at the moment so contacting the police might be a quicker option. Perhaps your friend could do that for you, either by phone or a visit. Also a car can be taxed at a post office, unfortunately you still need the same documents but your friend might be able to get some advice from them.
I doubt the police would be interested. They're not interested in dumped vehicles and years ago when my friend's car broke down and was left on double yellow lines overnight we phoned the police in the morning to tell them and they basically said "Tough, nothing to do with us you will still get a ticket" I don`t know what they do in NI but around here, they drive around looking for untaxed vehicles and clamp them and stick an 'Untaxed Vehicle' sticker on the windscreen - you don`t need to be driving around.
