got my car insurance quote ( good one) thought id update it by having only domestic and social driving, exclude the commuting as don't commute any more and also parking in residential parking area for my block of flats, not on the street but somehow I'm now paying £4.00 more for this lol
though id get a few quid off..............
Is this a quote through the post for an existing policy, if so it's always worth getting a quote on line with the same company, often comes out cheaper I find
You, presumably, will be doing a lot less mileage with having retired; some insurance companies think that with minimal mileage you become out of touch a bit with road conditions and are more of a risk.
That's what happened to me when I retired, going from 35K miles a year to 5K.
i have shopped around always do but tesco bank came cheapest last year and this year i said to the customer services why are you adding this as I'm now parking in res car park not on street she told me it because there more a chance of being hit buy another person manoeuvring in the park according to the insures policy,
and as for knocking off the commute bit the answer i got was
"I'm afraid sometimes the premiums are not affected by making changes to use of cover for the policy "
hopkirk i have another driver ,actually the price is not bad kia rio 2007 very good condition body and mechanically wise ,i dont change cars unless necessary, never have, premium is £280.02
"I'm afraid sometimes the premiums are not affected by making changes to use of cover for the policy"
that's true, although it's not always to your deteriment ... i got business use put on with no extra charge
I was with the AA for £360, renewal came in at £406 - they said last year was an introductory offer for new business. I got the same cover with Hastings Direct for £304.
