New Astra squeak

Just bough a new Astra 6 weeks ago but it squeaks from the back axle when i get in or out. My dealer says they all do this due to the fact they have rear discs. Can this be true

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.a) I guess there is a very very slim chance that as the car has rear discs and the handbrake works on these too, there is a little movement causing the squeak as pads move a bit when you get in or out.
b) it could simply be a dry bush on the suspension which a squirt of rubber/nylon lubricant will fix once and for all.
But sounds a bit iffy to me.
I would ask to try another new one. It's not like you've just bought a toy in Poundland. You've made a huge purchase and deserve to be entirely happy with it.

It's a Vauxhall ! - and all you can find wrong is a little squeak ? Count your blessings and keep your fingers crossed, hope that nothing more serious appears wrong before you have the chance to pass it on to the next unfortunate punter. Expect the dealers to continue arguing unhelpfully untill the warranty has run out, and then just ignore you. They appear to be trained to do so. I just hope you didn't buy from the 'Pentagon; group of dealerships. Suggest you send your complaints in writing, recorded delivery, to both the dealers and Vauxhall without delay.
Make them fix it. Probably the rear suspension bushes. Absolutely nothing to do with the rear discs. I used to work for Vauxhall and you won't believe the problems they had trying to locate sqeaks. (Fronteras were the worst).
If it is a known problem the factory should have a solution. Don't take no for an answer.
