Hyundai I10

That is what I have it is 10 years old this year and has 25,000. It is a great wee runaround but this past 2 years I find it very bumpy - you know you feel every stone, dip pot hole and like really bad. When you are going over these you think you are on a rollercoaster.

I am nervously thinking of getting a newer one to avoid the above but don't want to spend too much money.

It is 11 years since I bought a new car - am not fussed if it is new - perhaps a little more luxurious. Would go for Hyundai again. Any help please.

It probably won't make a huge difference but yes you should give a lower, more accurate, value.

On Autotrader they are advertised between 2500 & 3500, so £3000 would seem a fair valuation. If you were unfortunate enough to damage it in an accident it would probably be written off & the insurer would offer you THEIR valuation of what is was worth.

As an aside - I once changed from a car valued at £8000 to a smaller car (as a stop gap) valued at only £500 and my insurance premium went UP! So so there's not much logic that I can see.

Dave, you can kill s pedestrian or write off a Rolls Royce just as easily in an old banger as you can a new car - or cause very expensive damage. Maybe insurers think you won't be so careful in a banger

Have a look at the new Dacia Sandero and its reviews. Praised for its comfy ride. Very reliable too. Theyare alksovery well apointed at a very reasonable price. My son. and daughter in law have had 6 over the years on PCP.
We go to Turkey a lot and always hire one there as it copes with bad country roads without fuss.
Anyone who says they are rubbish cannot have had first hand experience.

I'm not a "car person", but my sister and I leased Hyundai i10s for 3 years with the business. Great and reliable little cars, but I agree, they feel a bit bumpy.
This time, I have a Hyundai x20 (£100/month) which is perfect and much smoother. My sister's is an i30, which she loves.
I had a tucson as a courtesy car for a couple of weeks. It was a dream to drive, but you could pretty much see the petrol gauge lowering as you drove- very thirsty!

Don't go anywhere near webuyanycar. They lie. The "guaranteed" amount they offer, drops as soon as you arrive.

pixie, I know two people that got the agreed amount less a £40 'admin fee' but I also know a few that got offered a lot less.

My daughter sold her car to webuyanycar and got a better price than offered by the dealer for part exchange.

Barry, it wasn't the amount that bothered me- I knew it would obviously be less than a private sale, say- but the dishonesty.
They gave me a "guaranteed price" and emailed me each day to say, your guarantee only lasts 7days, 6 days... etc. It wasn't guaranteed.
I was honest about all the questions, and they tried to take off £1,500, when I arrived "because it's 4 years old". Which they knew, they had the reg etc. It wasn't until a slight disagreement about what "guaranteed" meant, and getting in my car to go, that they raised it another £1000 again. No need to lie though.

I'll be keeping it - apart from the bumpiness - it is a nippy wee car - suits me for now. My friend's car is now 18 years and looks it but has no intention of a new one.

JJ, I've never believed in changing cars just for the sake of it, as far as I'm concerned a reliable car is worth its weight in gold regardless of its age.
Time to get rid is when it is costing money to keep it on the road and it is no longer reliable
