How long to Points stay on your licence for?

depends on the offence, for speeding they stay 4 years and count for 3 years. I think for DD it's 10 years.

A slight amendment.

For DD (and causing death) points remain for 11 years.

Just a point of pedantry which may help. Some driving offences carry a mandatory disqualification. Drink Driving, Dangerous Driving, some Drug related driving offences are among them. On conviction for these offences no points are awarded (you cannot get points and a disqualification). It is therefore the endorsement which remains on the licence for the periods mentioned. This is because a second or subsequent offence of the same type carries a heavier mandatory penalty if committed within a certain period. For example, drink-driving carries a mandatory 12 month minimum disqualification for a first offence, but a mandatory three year minimum disqualification for a second offence within ten years of the first. Penalty points, awarded for less serious offences, remain on the licence for four years but active for only three. If a driver accumulates twelve or more active points within three years then a mandatory six month (minimum) disqualification is imposed.

I've just recently got 3 points for speeding, and have told they stay there for 4 years. You then need to write to the DLVA to have them removed. Hope that helps.
