Reversing Camera That Speaks? Are There Still Any Out There To Add To A Honda Jazz?
6 Answers
I did a rather stupid thing. Last week I sold my trusty Honda Jazz. It was a used 2004 model. The previous owner added a small reversing camera with a monitor that was located up above the rear view mirror. Uniquely, it had a female voice, warning a countdown as I reversed, telling me when to stop. And it had 'alignment' arrows for reversing. And when not in use it displayed a nice large face clock. I stupidly imagined that I could just buy one for the Jazz I just bought, but for the life of me I can't find one anywhere. The monitor looked somewhat like the 'ParkMate' units sold today. However, in speaking with them, they claim they've never had a 'talking' model.
I realise technology jumps hurdles over itself year after year. But I'm hoping someone might be familiar with this camera unit and where I may get one. Not a clue from Halfords, nothing in Argos. And the local Honda dealer was useless. I'd be most grateful for any advice. BTW - my new Jazz just beeps, but does little more. Perhaps I'm asking too much.
Many thanks!

I have lost count of the number of times I have seen people rely too much on reversing aids. A friend had a two week old car very badly damaged because a neighbour was relying on reversing sensors, one of which had failed, causing them to reverse straight into the side of his car. There is no substitute for proper observations, including checking blindspots.
MANY THANKS EVERYONE! I think Barry got it best for me. I'm so very grateful to you ALL for your contributions. I agree, we do rely upon this technology too much. In my case, I use it simply as a confirmation of what I actually see. But your point is well taken, Electro.
LadyBirder - mine beeps too and it drives me crazy! That's why I wanted a 'talkie' again.... so here goes!
And a special mention to Jollyroger - I did go through ebay, but never found the actual 'talkie' type.....but I see the displays change regularly.
Thanks everyone! I'm gonna lean towards Barry's sleuth work!
Glad you guys are around!
Kudos!

For Barry100! Mate, you did a jolly good job at finding very close to what I want. To my exasperation, it's sold out and they don't expect any more. This one, however, I did notice didn't have an actual video display of what's going on as I back up - it did, however, give a countdown visually and verbally. The chap at Hawk Alarms doesn't expect to get any more in.
If you DO happen to see an alternate, I'm sure you'd be richly rewarded in Heaven, just probably not by Answerbank...
Many thanks!
