Heater doesn't always work

My MK2 Golf heater cuts out after about 20 minutes of running. The blower is new so it's not that. When the car is first started, the air warms up normally, and is hot after about 7 minutes, then it just cuts out and blows cold air.

Any suggestions please, thanks.

Could be a sticking thermostat or if you have to keep topping up your coolant it could be gasses stopping circulation when a head gasket leaks. The thin pipe to the header tank are known to block up causing airlocks. Could also be a faulty heater valve washer that swells up when hot and stops the flow.
Could also be the heater matrix partialy blocked preventing water flow when the thermostat is open.
