You've probably got your heater controls set to recirculate or you've got a bad leak somewhere.

if the heater is set to hot and on the screen setting and it mists up it normally means your heater matrix is seeping,

Probably depends on what you are doing in the car to get it steamed up !

Set the heating controls to blow warm air onto the windscreen AND (most important) open a window slightly until the damp air escapes.
