When Your Car Fails Its Mot ...

and the garage then puts right that which caused the MOT failure, do they then have to carry out another MOT inspection before issuing the MOT Certificate? If so, do you have to pay for two MOT checks?
I thought my garage said I did but son is saying I shouldn't have to so perhaps I got it wrong which I can do very easily nowadays. Is son correct?
Yes I know I can ask the garage but I thought I'd give it a go on here first.
Cheers and thank you.

They don't usually as I think they only need to re-test the item(s) it failed on. That's if the car is not removed from the garage between tests. e.g. My last MoT failed due to headlight aim. They issued a failed cert then adjusted the headlights & issued a pass cert. No extra charge.

Davebro I have given you BA because you were the first to get it right.
I got a "Refusal of MOT test certificate". The car had to stay at the garage as it could not be driven on the road without an MOT. Garage bought the parts needed, did the repair, then issued the MOT. I paid one only £39.99 for the MOT, plus parts and labour for the repairs of course.
