if it's just happened for no obvious reason it could be a balancing weight has fallen off one of the (front) wheels

I can't be sure what you need. But I think your car needs looking at ;-)

Just be aware that most (all) front-wheel drive cars have MacPherson struts as the front suspension. This is particularly prone to wheel imbalalance and there are usually balance weights on both the inside and outside of the rim. If you've lost an inboard balance weight it might be difficult to see.
