On the A12 this morning, there were signs saying "Street lights not working for safety reasons". Anyone know what those safety reasons might be?

They sometimes put those signs up where there are roadworks when, for example, drivers might see a straight run of lights ahead of them (and therefore assume that the road continues straight on as normal) but there's actually a contraflow system (or other deviation in the normal route of the road).

That appeared to be why those signs appeared on the A137, by the roadworks improving the junction with the A14, recently.
