Why Is The Mercedes E Class And Bmw 5 Series 2009/10 More Expensive Than A Jaguar X Type?
I own a 2009 Jaguar x type that has 90,000 miles. I’ve owned it since 2019 and I paid £4,000 for it. On auto trader the X types this age with the same mileage are going for around £3500. I’ve been looking at Mercedes’ E class and bmw 5 series the same age as my Jag with roughly the same mileage, but they’re going for around £5000/£6000. Why are they such a big difference in price even though all three are luxury cars the same age and same miles?

Each has its own merits and driving style, for instance my BMW has deep bucket seats is much closer to the smaller windscreen and gives a much sportier feel despite both having similar performance figures. The Jag gives a much more refined drive and is much easier to get in and out of. Clearly the BMW is aimed at the younger market. I am not a fan of the Merc, it doesnt seem to achieve either sporty or refined, seems to be trying to be both.
The only way to find outis test drive them and see which one suits you, after all that is all that matters!

I’m terms of test driving these cars in garages, I want to do that but I’m not quite ready for buying one atm, it’s still ok to test drive them though? I mean obviously I won’t tell the salesman I don’t intend on buying but I guess I could just tell them that I’m testing out different cars to see what I like?
