Lots of times the wires run from under the seats to under the carpet and can get caught/kicked/broken by seat movement or rear passemger feet. Look under the seats for broken wires/loose mulitplugs.
You can also suffer from loose connections on other parts of the system, my toyota had a loose connection on the actual crash sensor, just pushed it back in place and it worked no problem.
* Warning * playing around with the srs system can be risky, you might cause a deployment of the air bags. You can disconnect the car battery (check out the radio codes problem first !) but be aware that many srs systems have an independant power supply which keeps power for some minutes after the battery power goes off.
Solution 4 scotch locks and 2 different coloured wires (bypass the connector).
When you turn the car off take the key out, leave it for 1 minute then start the car, the system will do a diagnostic test and if connection is made it will turn the light off.
There's also one under the drivers seat, you may do that as well.
