I would guess that a hose carrying the cold air has come adrift - that will mean a grovel under the bonnet and, possibly, under the car ass well to find it.

Is there normal airflow when the aircon isn't being used?

My guess would be a blockage of some sort. ( Or maybe a disconnection.) Wouldn't a service get it sorted ?
